Titans secure hardware in New York

Jamestown, NY- The Beaver County Men's Basketball team are named Champions of the Jim Riggs Post-Journal Classic. Daryl Bones led the way over the weekend for the Titans while averaging 27 points per game leading him to be named MVP of the Jim Riggs Post-Journal Classic.

To advance to the championship game the CCBC Titans defeated The University of Pittsburgh-Titusville on Saturday December 9th. Four players scored double figure points for the Titans in the win, Nasir Campbell chipped in 10 points, Deontae Robertson and Antwan James respectively scored 16 and 17 points for the Titans while Daryl Bones led the way with 24 points. The Titans ability to dominate the glass played a heavy part in securing the win, the Titans punished Pitt-Titusville on the glass out rebounding them 53 to 32 which was led by Deontae Robertson with 10.

The next day the Titans squared up with the Classic's home team the Jamestown Jayhawks. The Titans jumped on the Jayhawks early opening the game up with a 11-0 run resulting in an early timeout called by Coach Sisson, after the timeout the Titans continued to pound the Jayhawks going on another 12 to run after the timeout. With the score being 23-2 Coach Sisson called another time out to gather his team and that is when the action started to heat up. The Jayhawks chipped away at the lead leaving the Titans with just a 6 point lead going into half time. Behind the hot shooting of Daryl Bones and Donald Butler dominating the glass the Titans were able to walk away with an 18 point win over the hosting team securing the hardware and being named champs. Deontae Robertson and Daryl Bones was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Titans will have a week to gather themselves before nationally ranked Garrett Community College will enter The Dome. The action is scheduled to begin at 1pm on Sunday December 17th 2018.
